Sewing Machine Bag Tutorial

I’m very excited to share this tutorial with you. I’m making this for my sewing machine and it come very handy. I was inspired by Singer Featherweight Sewing Machine and Tote. All you need to do is put the bag on the table and open the 4th zippers, and sew. But first measure your  machine and choose the fabric you want to use. Now we are ready to make this.  

Finished size : Width 16 inch X  Length 12,5 inch x Depth 8 inch

Materials : 

- Canvas for outer, 1 yard

- Waterproof lining, 1 yard

- Polyfoam  PE 2 mm  for batting , 1 yard

- Zippers 38 ", cut 4 pieces.

 - Strap 98 inch , size 3 cm 



Step 1.

First lets make the applique for the pocket.  Draw / print The Sewing Machine image, transfer the pattern into the fabric base. Trace the pattern into the fabric using a lamp, pin in and hand sew. I'm using Needle turn Applique. 


I also add the embroidery for the details. Then I sew the applique using the sewing machine.
 


I make inner pocket using the wire mesh and also add a zipper. 


Sew the zipper gusset around the applique base and then sew the bottom and sandwich the gusset ,on left and right side. 

Attach the lining, pin all around from the back, leave 10 cm open for turning. Don't forget to hand sew the opening.

Step 2. 

Assemble the outer and lining. This is how I layout the outer and lining.
 

 
 
 Place the strap 7 cm from the side. Attach the front pocket, and sew the bottom first. 



 

Prepare the zipper. The ones I'm using is the no. 5 zipper and cut each 9,5 " , you will need 4 pieces and sew the zipper on each side and sandwich the lining.
 
 
You will need turn over the lining, and insert the basting foam, the size of the foam is smaller than lining. sorry I don't have the picture.

 
I also add Velcro for the flap.
 
 



This is what it looks like in the inside. The pocket inside is for me to put my sewing supplies.
